5 Simple Ways To Make Your Bedroom Smell Good
Anyone would love to have a bedroom that smells fragrant instead of musky. Given our hot and humid climate in Singapore, the need to smell pleasant and fresh are dire. If your bedroom smells dusty, musty or smelly, you are diminishing your well-being and depriving yourself of a night of restorative good night’s sleep. Needless to say, no bedroom can smell nice with piles of dirty laundry or smelly socks piled in the room or near the bed. It also doesn’t help if you have a dog that hasn’t showered for days lying next to your bed. If your bed is anything but clean smelling, it is time to take note of 5 simple ways to make your bedroom smell good.
How Can You Make Your Bedroom Smell Good All The Time?
1. Wash your sheets
There’s nothing like soft, comfortable and clean bedsheets to rest in every night. Bed sheets absorb a considerable amount of bodily oils, fluids and dead skins. If you go too long without washing your bedsheets, it can begin to smell musty or even funky. To keep the air in your bedroom fresh, it is important to wash your bedding regularly. Remove your bedding and wash the sheets, pillowcases and bolster case every week or at least twice a month. More often so if you allow your pets to sleep on your bed.
2. Air purifier
A simple way to make the air in your bedroom smell fragrant is to place an air purifier in the room. Add a few drops of essential oil into your air purifier so that its smell can permeate your bedroom. Essential oils also contain healing properties. Lavender, eucalyptus, and clove are a few scents that will freshen your bedroom and provide relaxation qualities.
3. Open your windows
Perhaps the simplest method to make your bedroom smell fresh is to open the windows to allow fresh air and sunlight in. Unless you live in an industrial area or near the highway, your bedroom will probably need airing from mould, pollen, and smell of cleaning products to harmful gases such as radon and carbon monoxide.
4. Freshen your carpet
Some bedrooms are carpeted for the comfort it provides for walking on and also its impact on your bedroom’s décor. But the disadvantages of having carpets is its tendency to attract bacteria, mould, pollen, dust mites and dirt from your feet. Over time, carpet can become dirty if not regularly cared for and can produce bad smells. However, there is no need to use harsh chemicals to clean your carpet. You can instead try using baking soda. It’s cheap and effective. Sprinkle baking soda over your carpet and let it rest for an hour. Then vacuum the powder away and you will find that the stink has disappeared. Maintain cleanliness in your carpet by removing your shoes when you are entering or change into bedroom slippers.
5. Natural air freshener
Commercial air fresheners may contain harmful chemicals and also expensive. They are unnecessary too because you can make your own natural air freshener. Simply mix your own water, alcohol and real essential oils in a spray bottle. Spray generously into your bedroom if you need a little pick me up or to just freshen up your bedroom air.
